South West Textile Group consists of about 35 textile artists. We aim to promote public awareness of textile arts by exhibiting members’ work. Our talented group offers wide ranging textile art forms from tapestry weaving, hand and machine embroidery, patchwork, felt making, paper forms, metal and wire work, photography, ceramics, mixed media and installation work. We are all dedicated and committed artists.
The group is self-funded and is organised voluntarily by a committee elected by the membership. The Annual General Meeting is held in January where members vote in officers and their deputies who serve the interests of the group. Members are expected to take an active role by attending meetings, organising exhibitions and events. Meetings are lively, creative and many friendships are formed through mutual interest. SWTG publishes a regular Newsletter keeping members up to date with the membership, exhibitions and general information about the group.
New Members are Welcome!
We meet in Bridgwater on a Saturday morning, about 4 times a year, and also in smaller groups for Work in Progress meetings at members’ houses at various times.
We focus on two or three exhibitions a year, but members can choose which ones they want to participate in. The ethos is one of support and inclusion, and we welcome aspiring and experienced textile artists. Come along and meet us! Please use the contact form to get in touch and find out when our next meeting is – dates vary according to our exhibition schedule.
